Sunday, August 31, 2008 Saying Aloha To Hawai’i |
Hard to believe it’s already been a week and that it was time to get home. While Kathie go stuck with the onerous task of packing, Victoria and I made our way down to the pool to enjoy one last swim. On the way, we got to feed breakfast to the resort’s school of koi (feeding frenzy would be a better term to describe it!). |

For the next hour or two we spent moving from one swimming area to the next. Most of our time, though, was spent hurtling down the slide again and again and again (you get the picture). These pools were really amazing, especially early in the morning when we essentially had them all to ourselves! The only downer on the morning was that it was, once again, too rough for us to enjoy the beaches. |

We were in a bit of a conundrum for the afternoon, trying to figure out what to do. Our flight wasn’t until 8:45 in the evening, but we wanted to keep things relatively simple so that we didn’t have to constantly pack and unpack. We ended up finding a beautiful spot in the shade to play Canasta with Victoria (she’s getting WAY to good for us!). At 5:30, we were at the Tidepools Restaurant for one last dinner on Kaua’i before heading over to the airport. |
Aside from the headache of going through not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE lines before we could get to the gate for our plane, we boarded our flight back to the mainland with minimal problems. Not an enjoyable way to depart the Hawai’ian islands! Our red-eye flight to the mainland was smooth and we made it into LAX early. Amazingly, our connecting flight on to JFK left right on-time and made it in to New York with time to spare. We even had a neat little ending to the trip as we got to wait for our luggage side-by-side with movie star Cameron Diaz (as nice as you could imagine!).
Probably our most relaxing vacation ever! |
