Kaua’i |
|
I’ve probably been bit overly dramatic in the past when I’ve whined about really needing a vacation, but this time (insert dramatic pause here), I MEAN IT! Even though it’s been a little less than two months since Kathie and Victoria went on their trek Down Under, it’s been a (gasp) whopping five months since I was on vacation to Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. In the last couple of weeks leading up to this trip, I could literally sense the stress and tension from the real world drop away as I imagined the sensation of our plane taking off! Maybe it wasn’t quite that dramatic, but it was pretty close. |

We’ve been so lucky with our travels in recent years, that it seems like I’ve been excited merely at the notion of traveling, not necessarily at the destination. Well, it’s safe to say that this was not the case for this trip. Since we the moment booked it almost nine months ago, we’ve be eagerly looking forward to this trip! Hawai’i is a place I’ve always wanted to visit, but we’ve always seemed to gravitate to the east and Europe or to the south and the Caribbean – the notion of fifteen hours of flying was never to appealing! But when this trip appeared on an American Express auction, we instantly knew this was the one for us! |

One of the less rugged stretches of the Nā Pali coastline on the northern part of the island. The peaks to the right are about 5,000 feet. |

Usually at this point, I put up a list of links to websites that I used to help plan our trip. But this time, it’s a list of ONE! The only book we used on this entire trip called Ultimate Kaua’i. This was easily the best guide book we’ve ever come across - every single recommendation we used was absolutely dead on. And every other tourist we spoke with said the exact same thing! Definitely a gem! |
