Time To Bid Adieu To Guadeloupe

It’s hard to believe that a week has passed since our arrival on Guadeloupe!

At one point, we were hoping to actually do something this day, but we quickly just slipped to the idea of letting the kids play while we packed up our stuff.  We pulled out around 11, stopping only for a quick farewell to Grand Anse and then to fuel up the cars.  It was at that point that we had the realization that our flight was leaving at 2:00, not 4:00 as had originally been id’d by Delta - oops!

We made it to the airport with no problem with plenty of time to spare.  But then the headaches began.  First, Marie-Laure discovered that her Corsair flight back to Paris Orly Airport had been cancelled, there was no replacement flight for 24 hours, and they WEREN’T providing hotel space.  Quite a nightmare.  Pacal and Mélanie gave her what help they could, but it soon was time for us to get going to our gate.  Then it was our turn.  Everyone boarded the plane and then we began to sit.  And sit.  And sit.  Over three (almost four!) hours later, the scene out our window looked remarkably familiar.  The reason?  Apparently our toilet wasn’t working properly!  I’ve heard some lame reasons, but that was a first!

They’re NEKKID - that means they have no clothes on and they’re UP to something!

Our parting view of Grand Anse

The return flight was quite smooth and we got in to Atlanta with nary a problem until we tried to navigate the airport.  Apparently at Hartsfield International, you need to check your luggage back IN in order to go OUT of the airport!  Doesn’t make much sense to us and it unfortunately added another hour on to our efforts to get the girls to the hotel and to bed.  We finally checked to our Embassy Suites after 12:30 AM and promptly passed out!

Sunday morning, we made our way back to Hartsfield and checked in for our return flight to PHL.  Everything went smoothly and we were back home in Wilmington by 3:00.  A week that flew by, but one that was a lot of fun!
