Trying To Get Home!

Return To The States--NOT!

After a quick breakfast and checking out of the hotel, we made our way through the Tube system and back to Victoria Station for the train ride to Gatwick Airport.  We arrived two hours ahead, confident we were heading home.  Of course, this would have been easier to accomplish if our plane had arrived from the States that morning!  By the time we had made our way through the line, it was too late to make our way back across the ocean on any flight!  Fortunately, US Airways came through for us and put us up at the Hilton connected to the airport for the night and covered our meals.  For Jonathan, this was especially fortuitous as he and Kelley grabbed a cab to go visit some cousins who lived minutes from Gatwick Airport.  It wasn't exactly the return home we had planned, but under the circumstances, it worked out alright.

FINALLY!  HOME!

Our second attempt to get home was much more successful than the first!  We checked in, made our way through Security and got on the plane with no problem.  Departing only a few minutes late, we had an easy and uneventful flight across the Atlantic and back into the U.S.  In Philadelphia, we had no problem making our way through Customs and Immigration to be greeted by our family.  It had been ten days since our departure and we had made it back, laden with memories (and souvenirs) of our pilgrimage to last a long time.
