Exploring Niagara
Excursions

The Maid of the Mist boats depart from the dock at Prospect Point on the American side and from the dock at Clifton Hill and River Rd. on the Canadian side.  The boats pass directly in front of the falls and enter the Horseshoe Basin.

Trips leave daily starting at 9:15 (note: these hours reflect the American side; the Canadian side runs 15 minutes earlier).  Waterproof clothing are included in the fare.

The Niagara Parkway takes you along the Niagara River from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. The parkway is a scenic 56-kilometer (35-mi.) drive which was described in the 1940s by Winston as "the prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world."  A recreation trail which includes picnic areas borders the river and parkway makes this an ideal biking excursion out of Niagara-on-the-Lake.  Fairly flat, the ride doesn't get truly challenging until you reach Queenston and the start of the Escarpment.  For more information phone the Niagara Parks Commission at (905) 356-2241. Niagara River Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours depart Niagara-on-the-Lake from King George III Inn a block away from the Queen's Landing Inn at 61 Meville St. They offer 1-hour rides on the lower Niagara River on a 40-seat, 1,000 horsepower jetboat that feature the Niagara Gorge, Devils Hole and Whirlpool Rapids. A rain suit, wool sweater, aquasocks and life jacket are provided.  Note--Passengers will get wet; a change of clothes is HIGHLY recommended. Since the tour is 50 percent historic/scenic and 50 percent white-water adventure, participants should be in good health. A signed release is required. Arrive 30 minutes early to prepare for the ride.
